There will be no Film Club in August.
This month's film is Jane Campion’s multi Oscar-winning classic THE PIANO. Mute Scottish lady Ada (Holly Hunter) and her daughter Flora (Anna Paquin) arrive in a remote part of 19th century New Zealand for an arranged marriage to Alisdair Stewart (Sam Neill). However, his refusal to accept the piano she brought pushes her in to a complex and passionate deal with neighbour George (Harvey Keitel). A haunting atmosphere, beautiful cinematography and a memorable score by Michael Nyman have made THE PIANO a film for the ages.
