2024 Halesworth and District u3a AGM
Please note the EARLIER START TIME OF 14.00.
As always, we would welcome nominations for committee members to help run our u3a to keep it strong, healthy and able to provide a wide range of learning and leisure opportunities for our members. Most of our current committee will be seeking re-election at this year’s AGM. However, some of our most experienced members will be standing down in the not-too-distant future, and we are very aware of the need to maintain a strong team to take our u3a forward. So, this year in particular, we would like to recruit people who have a clear vision of what the u3a can offer its members and who are interested in helping to represent the organisation and develop it as a resource for our community.
Please do think about whether you or someone you know could help by joining the committee. Click here for Committee Nomination Form 2024 which should be returned by September 13th by email or by post to the addresses on the form If you would like any further information, or just an informal chat about what’s involved, please contact Secretary or Chair.

Duplex Drive Tanks of D-Day
The AGM will be followed by an illustrated talk given by historian Stuart Burgess from Time and Tide Museum about the secret amphibious tanks that were used during World War Two for D-Day and river crossing operations.
Stuart formerly managed Fritton Lake where the Duplex Drive Tank crews trained during 1943. The tanks were modified with canvas screens and propellers to enable them to float.
Stuart will show rare photographs, military films and discuss the development of these specialised weapons and their effectiveness during the War.
