This month's film is a sequel to Gianni di Gregorio’s popular MID - AUGUST LUNCH, which we screened earlier in the year. In SALT OF LIFE (12, 85 mins, 2011), we not only return to Giorgio’s demanding mother, but are introduced to his wife, a glamorous neighbour, and her dog who needs exercise. Feeling trapped, Giorgio’s eye starts to wander, and then his real problems start. SALT OF LIFE has the same gentle humour, wry human observation and delicious Roman lifestyle that made its predecessor so charming.
There will be no Film Club in August, but we will return on Tuesday 8th September with Jane Campion’s THE PIANO, starring Holly Hunter, Harvey Keitel and Sam Neil (tbc).
