Joining an Interest Group is a great way to meet like-minded people. u3a Groups are all about sharing ideas and expertise. The majority of our Groups welcome people with all levels of ability whether you are a complete beginner or a seasoned pro. How do I join a Group?
To join a Group, click on the Group name in the list above and you will be taken to the specific Group page where you will find more information, then click on the Group Leader link to send a message to the relevant person. If there is a problem, please contact the Interest Groups Facilitator. Please include your telephone number in your message and check your spam box if you do not receive an email reply.

Do I have to be a member of Halesworth u3a to join a Group?
Yes. However, you can usually arrange a taster session with the relevant Group Leader to see if the Group suits you before you commit yourself.

GROUP MEMBERSHIP means shared participatory learning where the Group uses the strengths and enthusiasms of all its members. The Groups are the life blood of u3a, so if you are able to co-ordinate a Group, or really wish there was a Group on a particular subject, then please let the Interest Groups Facilitator know. Help with organisation and resources can be given.

GROUP CHARGES: There are no group membership charges, but for some groups there may be a small cost to cover materials or venue costs. Please ask the Group Leader for more information about a particular group

GROUP LEADERS

Each of our Interest Groups has a Group Leader. He or she acts as a facilitator to help the group members pursue their interests and meet their objectives. The frequency of meetings, venue and objectives of the group are discussed and agreed by the members. Interest Group administration varies from group to group but is generally quite straightforward, and new Leaders can get help and advice from the Group Leaders page or from the Interest Groups Facilitator.

POSSIBLE NEW GROUPS

We have a number of current suggestions for possible new groups (listed below). These can only be started if enough members would like to join them:

  • Victorian Literature.

We are keeping a list of members who would like to participate in any of these possible groups, and will facilitate an initial meeting when there are enough people interested. Please let the Interest Groups Facilitator know if you would like to add your name to the list of those who would like to be part of one of these groups.
