World Philosophies

Status: Active, open to new members

When: Monthly on Monday mornings
2nd Monday of the Month 10.30 to 12.00 am.
Venue: Members' Homes

AIMS: To explore the origins and evolution of some of the world's philosophies and belief systems, including the major religions.

ACTIVITIES: Normally, one group member will research the month's chosen topic in advance and will make a short presentation to the others. The balance of the meeting will be discussion. In addition, we will aim to invite outside speakers and visit places of relevance. In the past this has included a mosque and an Orthodox church.

Topics are usually of general interest and in the current programme have included Socratic Dialogue and Ethical Dilemmas; Christian Science; and the origins of Quaker belief.

CHARGES: No fixed charge but donations for tea/coffee welcome.
