Local History

Following a successful planning meeting the group has divided into two spheres of interest. The Social History section are researching the history of various streets in the centre of Halesworth, including those for which the Halesworth Museum would welcome more information.
The Landscape Archaeology section are using mapping, including LIDAR, to investigate the landscape of the Blyth valley.

There is a wealth of local history to be discovered; from prehistoric, Roman and post-Roman settlements, through the medieval period up to the 20th Century. There will be opportunities for a variety of projects and also the potential for field trips and visits to Record Centres. In time the group may also arrange for expert speakers to visit Halesworth.
