Real Ale and Local Pubs

Cost: Approx £10/session for beers

AIMS: To learn more about local beer and pub culture.

ACTIVITIES: Visit a different pub each month using public transport. Record the range of beers and compile tasting notes. We prefer to buy beer in jugs and share in half-pint glasses so that we can sample a range of beers. If possible, we try to compile information on history, ownership and general impressions of the pubs visited. Occasionally visit local breweries. CHARGES: Approx £10 per session for beers. Food optional at own cost. Depending on venue, there are often transport costs and occasionally charges for a brewery tour.

TEN YEARS OF THE GROUP
The first trip of the group was to the Green Dragon in Bungay in 2014. In January 2024 we celebrated our Tenth Anniversary at the Green Dragon.

MEMBERSHIP of the group is now closed as we have more members than can be taken in the Halesworth Community Bus, which we increasingly use. Anyone interested in joining us in the future, please contact the group coordinator to be put on a waiting list and you may be invited to join us when travel numbers are not restricted (e.g. when using scheduled public transport or walking to the venues).
